Install Windows XP in a Vista-loaded computer

Get the best of both worlds with an XP and Vista dual-boot

Definitely not Vista compatible

As the oft-repeated saying goes: failure is not an option, it comes with your Microsoft product.

Similarly, you don’t get to choose whether to use Windows Vista or not, because it comes preloaded in most PCs nowadays.

To be fair, using Vista does have its perks, such as better security and delicious graphics. But it chows down more memory and processing power than XP, and it’s incompatible with most PC games. And let’s not get started about the usability of the User Access Control.

So how do you enjoy the best of both worlds – by having both XP and Vista on the same computer?

What you need:

  • A licensed copy of Windows XP
  • VistaBootPRO (free)
  • Lots of time

Follow the step-by-step instructions listed here.

And there you have it: XP and Vista on the same PC. Bill Gates would be so proud.
